Preservation Inlet
Preservation and Chalky Inlets are New Zealand’s most southernmost and seldom visited fiords. They are located south of Breaksea and Dusky Sounds and much further south than the more famous Milford and Doubtful Sounds.
Preservation and Chalky inlets offer remote wind-swept coastlines and grand sweeping beaches. In the past, this area attracted early whalers but most traces of their existence has been swallowed by the natural landscape.
You’ll experience the extreme isolation of this inspirational wilderness, its beauty, wildlife and fascinating history.
The opportunity to explore the shoreline by sea kayak and return to our support vessel for evening meals and accommodation is the perfect combination.
Small group 7-day voyage to Preservation and Chalky Inlets, the most southerly of the Fiords. Overnight accommodation and meals on board our motor sailer, Breaksea Girl. Previous paddling experience necessary. Trip includes sea kayaking, accommodation, meals and helicopter transfers.
